i think im turning into craig
i was only 4 years old, and i suprised my mom by telling her (with limited vocab) that human should consider car sharing, to reduce traffic jam and fuel.the incident that makes my mom think this genius kid was ready for kindergarden then..so i quote from her. im no genius, and im not being humble, mind you.
i still rmbr when i was working in houston, my boss then was a gentlemen named craig. i adore him, a talented geologist with enthusiasm of knowledge sharing, he picks me up to where i was (until i left for a smaller company with lower position and pay but at least located in KL)his wife, also a geologist, working with Nasa, rock scientist, analyzing rock from the space i bet.awesome couple, and there i was celebrating thanksgiving with them. they are both PHD qualified.
And they have no kids, and both are few years away shy from their retirement age. it was odd at the dinenr table, i felt like their kid, and i know my presence makes a diffrence in their thanksgiving for that year. i had fun managing the huge turkey, and the evening went well.
i was told that the decision to not have kids were intentional, as the wife says, we want to reduce pollution, more human means more pollution.Bare in mind my boss was a manager, but he drove a small car, usses minimum electricity, and choose to not have kids (im sure their kids would have been brilliant, or good genetics at least) in their love of the mother nature.im sure that just his way of doing his bit.
as for me, my worry for the carbon footprint and the electricity overhead consumption and other un-renewable substance is paramount.
- i get worried to the universal studios, las vegas, and the karaoke places, and the fun fairs..those are energy sucker..they swallow the electricity to a black hole of human ignorance
- i worry for the water theme park, too frequent car wash, unnecessary clothes washing, would ruin the clean water supply..
- The formula 1 race, i think is a waste of oil/fuel. dont even get me started on personal jet plane, and NASA space shuttle.transport is to mobilize the human from one to another, other than that you are violating the earth supply just because you have the cash.
trust me i wanted to cycle to work to save the earth, but more often i can disguise that as my sporty habit. if i were to swim in a river, i wont use shampoo or soap as those things will get into the system and ruin the food chain system.
i really think food dont need nice packages, its meant to tear anyways, (and the plastic polluted the earth). i dont print the receipt at the ATM, coz i can always check the balance online, and save the tree.
i limit my self usage of electricity, car fuel, car wash,i'll sweep the floor no vacuuming thank you, ill take the stairs instead of lift (unless a high rise building :))..
my job is in the industry energy. i exploit the earth for resources, i look for gas to secure the energy demand. managers coming to me asking for gas map scares me .. we are serious now hey? i will be busy in sept onwards because heavy drilling to supply malaysian energy.
im sure this whole "craig" effort was a guilt trip for myself, im sure its me trying to repent to mother nature for what i had done to her but everyone has their bit in it..
malaysia has serious energy issue, it wont be long before we need to do load shedding.. thats a nightmare for me. wikipedia has define load shedding. tell me you get goosebumps when u read that.
when china build their dam, and control the river, it effects the river flow to vietnam, and effecting vietnam hydro-generator, and malaysia was asked to feed the energy to viet.my company was linked in this turmoil.. so its easy to see how things are interelated.
overpopulation seems worrying, but dont get me wrong, we do need younger generation, the future doctors to treat you when youre old etc. im just being silly in seeking moderation childbirth, who would listen to me anyways?
yes im saving money because i know in the future things/energy will get more expensive and scarce. mom says im her kedekut daughter, but the way i see it is that i dont like to waste/membazir.thats how i roll, thats how im doing my bit.
actually the office network has issues and i cant access my seftware to work, in this spare time im thinking yes, about mother nature earth. haha.
p/s: i do worry the fact that im slowly turning into craig's lifestyle. dear friends please nudge me if i am.
p/s/s: love the mother nature people. its pretty much what we have. love it or leave it.

sole solo soul searching
- it was a 6 days trekking at the himalaya, halfway to the everest base camp, and i did not bath during the whole course.
- the river i crossed was somewhat green blue-ish... that was the color of a melted glacier folks.
- the mountain ranges geologically aligned, the blue velvet sky, the silky breeze...masha-allah! god is great!
- my constant roomate has been strangers (we had few interaction via fb before the trip) but glad we went well, listen to the same singers, and sharing common thoughts about malaysia and migrating out from it.
- my skill to speak urdu/hindi was useful as it was somewhat the nepalese language. have i told u i can speak 5 language? yes, it must have slipped my mind.
- it was snowing when i was at the highest point of the trekking.. snowing in April? it was my luck.. alhamdulillah!
- i lose 3 kg over the trip.. nepal has no sea to provide seafood, nor fish. chicken in mountain is out of question, leaving me rice, dhal, and vege as the menu. butter and jam? thats a luxury item i rarely had too.
